Na rozdíl od složek ve standardních pilulkách drospirenon velmi věrně napodobuje přirozený progesteron v těle. Má mírné diuretické účinky, které pomáhají proti zadržování vody, čímž zabraňuje nadýmání a přibývání na váze, které jsou často spojovány s hormonální antikoncepcí. Navíc díky svému antiandrogennímu účinku je klinicky prokázáno, že Yasmin snižuje akné a tvorbu mazu, což z něj činí preferovanou volbu pro ženy trpící kožními nedokonalostmi.

Less commonly: weight gain, reduced libido, irritability, or digestive disturbances.
