Beskrivning

Differin Gel (Adapalen) är en mycket effektiv topikal behandling som är speciellt utformad för att bekämpa akne vid dess källa. Den tillhör en grupp läkemedel som kallas retinoider (härledda från vitamin A) och är särskilt effektiv mot komedonal akne (pormaskar och vita pormaskar) samt mild till måttlig inflammation.

Till skillnad från antibiotika som dödar bakterier, verkar Differin genom att reglera omsättningen av hudceller. Den normaliserar avstötningen av hudceller inne i hårsäckarna och förhindrar att döda hudceller och olja täpper till porerna. Denna djupverkande exfolierande effekt behandlar inte bara befintliga finnar utan hjälper också till att förhindra att nya akneutslag bildas.

Ingredienser

The active substance is adapalene. Differin contains 0.1% w/w of adapalene and the other ingredients are carbomer 940, propylene glycol (E1520), poloxamer 182, disodium edetate, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218), phenoxyethanol, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

Yes, this is very common during the first few weeks. You may experience some redness, dryness, or a burning sensation as your skin adjusts to the retinoid. To reduce this, you can apply the gel every other night initially or use a moisturizer 30 minutes after application.

Why does my acne seem worse after starting?

This is often called "purging." Because Adapalene accelerates cell renewal, deep-seated impurities are brought to the surface faster, which may look like a breakout. This is a sign the medication is working and usually clears up within a few weeks.

Can I use this if I am pregnant?

No. The use of retinoids like Adapalene is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy to ensure the safety of the unborn child. If you are planning a pregnancy, stop using this medication.

Does this make my skin sensitive to the sun?

Yes, Adapalene makes your skin more sensitive to UV light. It is important to avoid excessive sun exposure and sunbeds, and to always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) during the day, even if it is cloudy.

Can I combine this with other acne products?

Be cautious with other drying products like alcohol-based toners or harsh scrubs, as this can cause severe irritation. If you want to use other active ingredients (like benzoyl peroxide), it is often advised to use them in the morning and apply Differin in the evening.
