EMLA-kräm är en lokalbedövning som innehåller två verksamma ämnen: Lidokain och Prilokain. Även om den ursprungligen är avsedd för att bedöva huden före medicinska ingrepp, ordineras den ofta för att behandla för tidig utlösning (PE) genom att minska penissensitiviteten.

Ingredienser

1 g of cream contains: 25 mg Lidocaine and 25 mg Prilocaine. The other ingredients are macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, Carbomer 974P, sodium hydroxide and purified water.

EMLA is designed to reduce sensitivity, not to help with erections. If you apply too much cream or leave it on for too long, the penis may become so numb that sexual stimulation is no longer felt, which can cause the erection to subside. Start with a small amount to find what works for you.

Is it safe for oral sex?

Yes, but only if washed off. You must ensure the cream is completely washed off with water before oral sex. The cream has a bitter taste and will numb your partner's mouth and tongue if not removed.

Can I use a condom with this cream?

Yes. However, you should still wipe the cream off before putting the condom on. While EMLA is generally compatible with latex, wiping it off ensures the condom stays in place securely and minimizes any risk of the cream weakening the latex or leaking out.

What happens if I leave it on too long?

If you leave the cream on for significantly longer than 30-45 minutes, the numbness may become too strong. This can result in a complete loss of sensation, making it difficult to maintain an erection.

Will this numb my partner?

Yes, it can. If you do not wipe the cream off thoroughly before intercourse, it will transfer to your partner, causing them to feel numb as well. This can be unpleasant for them. Always wipe (and preferably wash) the penis before penetration, or wear a condom.
