Detalhes do medicamento

Ingredientes

Each pre-filled pen of Ozempic® contains a solution of semaglutide, with each dose delivering a specific quantity of semaglutide. The solution also includes additional ingredients such as disodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol, water for injections, and sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.

Efeitos colaterais

As with any medication, Ozempic® may have potential side effects. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). More serious but rare side effects may include complications of diabetic eye disease (retinopathy), inflamed pancreas (acute pancreatitis), severe allergic reactions, and delayed gastric emptying. It is crucial to discuss any side effects with your healthcare provider.

Avisos

Prior to using Ozempic®, it's essential to consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse, especially if you have type 1 diabetes, a history of diabetic ketoacidosis, or other medical conditions. Be cautious of potential interactions with other medications, such as warfarin or oral anticoagulants. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should seek medical advice before using this medicine.

Perguntas Frequentes

Can Ozempic® be used as a standalone treatment for diabetes?

Ozempic® can be used on its own if your blood sugar is not well controlled by diet and exercise alone and if you cannot use metformin. However, your healthcare provider may also prescribe it in combination with other diabetes medications if needed.

What is the recommended dosage for Ozempic?

Ozempic is typically administered once a week. Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dosage based on your individual needs and response to the treatment.

How does Ozempic® compare to other diabetes medications like insulin?

Ozempic® is not an insulin; it belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It helps lower blood sugar levels by stimulating the release of insulin and reducing glucagon secretion. It can be used as an alternative or in combination with other diabetes medications, including insulin.

Can Ozempic® be used by pregnant or breastfeeding individuals?

Ozempic® should not be used during pregnancy, and breastfeeding individuals should avoid using it, as its effects on unborn children and breast milk are not well understood. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor for guidance on diabetes management.

How does Ozempic® interact with other medications?

Ozempic® may interact with certain medications, such as warfarin or insulin. It's important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, including over-the-counter and herbal products, you are taking before starting Ozempic®. Your doctor will provide guidance on potential interactions and necessary adjustments.
