Ozempic (Semaglutide) is een injecteerbaar geneesmiddel dat wordt gebruikt voor de behandeling van type 2 diabetes en het heeft een gewichtsverlies effect door de eetlust te verminderen en een vol gevoel te bevorderen. Het werkt door de effecten na te bootsen van het van nature voorkomende glucagon-achtig peptide 1 (GLP-1), een hormoon dat de eetlust en de glucosespiegels in het lichaam reguleert. Ozempic is niet geïndiceerd voor gewichtsverlies in het VK. Een identiek alternatief genaamd Wegovy (van dezelfde fabrikant) is echter momenteel beschikbaar voor gewichtsverlies.

Ingrediënten

Each pre-filled pen of Ozempic® contains a solution of semaglutide, with each dose delivering a specific quantity of semaglutide. The solution also includes additional ingredients such as disodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol, water for injections, and sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.
